Abstract

The behavior of cyanide concentration in a wastewater of galvanized process of metalic recover industry was studied. The photodegradation process with Artificial UV light, titanium oxide (TiO2) as catalyst and hydrogen peroxide was used to degrade this waste water (400 ppm of CN-). The cyanide concentration was determined with electrode ion-selective method.
In this study a annular shaped reactor with concentric tubes was used in laboratory scale. It was obtained cyanide reduction in 65.5% with two hours of recirculation time. Kinetic models just was Langmuir-Hinshelwood. Experiments with four hours of recirculation time and reinyection of peroxide hydrogen was made. It was obtained a 97.37 % of reduction of cyanide concentration. Experiments with addition of oxygen didn´t improved the cyanide reduction. It was performed with two hours of recirculation time with reduction of 65.5% of cyanide.
