Abstract

Modernity, as a stage or historical moment includes reason, progress and freedom. These aspects have been a reference for humanity. From this point, postulates of globalization that go by structural condition emerge. However, many sociologists have expressed their disillusion and dissatisfaction in front of modernity.

At the very beginning of the century, reflections about modernity and globalization stay alive feeding the discussion on the conception of the world. This is a deep issue in which sociology makes contributions from the conceptions of the world in connection with the origin, the integration and the social order.

This document is centered on the postulates of modernity and postmodernity in the context of globalization where industrialization’s references are replaced for postindustrialization as a pillar from where the current moment is analyzed.
