Abstract
In this work, the author analices how has changed the academic life in institutions of Higher Education as a consequence of Globalization and Postmodernity. The argument is built from the point of view of UNIVERSIDAD EAFIT of Medellín, Colombia. Besides, the work is an invitation delivered to university administrators to discuss and evaluate the new philosophical paradigms that give sense to their mission; to evaluate the new technologies that are changing their traditional roll as educators, and to consider their options to mantain the academic autonomy, as the only guaranty of excelence in the contemporary world.
