Abstract

The main purpose of the present research work was to make a detailed and deep study – state of the art- of the domestic and international regulations regarding to foreign investment, in light of the principle theories of International Relations.

At the domestic level, the understanding of regulations about this topic is difficult given the fact they are dispersed throughout the entire internal legislation, in different regimes. In the study, these dispositions were unified as well as extensively analyzed.

The same exercise was conducted for the international arena, for which all of the international agreements, pacts and treaties concerning investment and ratified by Colombia up to now were analyzed, since these international standards set the tone for the establishment of local regulations based on models proposed by the international community.
