Resumen
En este artículo se aclaran algunas definiciones necesarias para entender el concepto de offshoring, realizando un recorrido por los trabajos más relevantes acerca de la evolución de los fenómenos de deslocalización y su impacto en la demanda de trabajo y en el ingreso de los trabajadores más calificados. Se evidencia que los procesos de deslocalización ya no solo tratan de la compra y venta de bienes, sino que cada vez adquiere un papel más protagonista el sector de servicios, y que no solo el menor costo importa a la hora de deslocalizar, sino que también se consideran aspectos como el idioma y la cultura. En los servicios que incorporan tecnología e investigación se encuentra, además, que estos fluyen ya no únicamente desde las empresas matrices hacia sus filiales, sino de empresas en países menos desarrollados a otras en países avanzados. Se finaliza con una revisión de los trabajos que estudian la relación del offshoring con el empleo y los salarios, tanto desde una perspectiva macroeconómica como microeconómica. En este último caso, se presta especial atención a los trabajos realizados por Amity y Wei (2006), Crinó (2010), Geishecker y Görg (2013).
