Abstract

The search for satisfying human needs, such as clothes, feed, entertainment and economic sustenance, have led us to intervene and exploit in an increasing way the environmental resources. Hereby, animals and their derivatives have turned into one of the major sources of revenue for man, especially in the international trade. Beyond knowing if present and future generations will be able to enjoy the environment and the biological biodiversity, the greatest concern is for the treatment we give to animals in the different commercial practices. Increasingly more people, organizations and states worry about the suffering to which animals are submitted to generate minor costs of production and consequently major income for producers. Without another consideration bore in mind the economic one. The main objective of this article is, on the one hand to determine the incidence of international animal protection laws on international trade. On the other hand, identify if there are mechanisms that protect animal rights under the regime of the WTO (World Trade Organization)
