Abstract

This article examines the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES), Convention which seeks to avoid the fact that the uncontrolled trade on species of fauna and flora affects the biodiversity that human beings need to survive. Its main purpose is to identify the objectives and structure of CITES and to determine whether or not the Convention has had a normative impact on the Colombian legal system, as well as a brief study of the relationship between international law and domestic law.
