Abstract

The issue of foreign investors protection is addressed in this article in the light of Bilateral Agreements for the Reciprocal Promotion and Protection of Investments (BITs). In these agreements, clear and precise rules are set to promote investments between the signing parties as well as to protect foreign companies investing in either signing state. It is claimed in this article that legal security and stable rules of the game are essential to encourage foreign investments in Latin America.
