Abstract

In Mexico the creation of engineering careers have been fostered by the need of professionals capable to attend, operate and maintain the industrial technological platform that has supported the national economy through the years. The objective of this work was to present a methodology for the determination of the universities response time (σR) understood as the gap existing between the time of professionals request (tdi) from the national industry and the time of engineering career creation (tcc). The results show that the university efforts responding to society demand for engineers has been flexible and adequate. The gap between the time of industrial demand and the time of engineer career creation has been diminishing constantly through the years.
