Abstract
This paper presents some developments in risk management focusing on a segment of the large companies operating in the Aburra Valley by means of an assessment obtained with an investigative process
with quantitative and qualitative approaches and of an exploratory character. Information was compiled using surveys which provided information about developments related to risk management, company areas responsible for the process, company acceptance, process reach, methodologies in use and perceived benefits. The collected information was compared with data obtained through interviews with risk experts to produce a diagnosis for the sample companies. The results presented in this article are intended to be useful for risk management improvementin both the business and academic sectors and for the reorientation or
strengthening of educational activities in accordance with the needs of businesses.
