Abstract

The State, as a government social construction, has been entrusted with the hard task of becoming a diversity managing unit. The tools used to achieve its objectives not only should guarantee the accomplishment of interests of such diversities (races, cultures, political or economical positions), but it also has to achieve the agglutinating effect that makes population feel they belong to a country. For this particular case, and from the perspective of the uniqueness-diversity discussion, this paper explores the phenomena of decentralization (as the administration of diversity) and the concept of nation (as a manifestation of uniqueness), in order to contribute with some elements that help deepen the individual understanding of collective and diverse management.
