Abstract

Although Medellín is an innovative city, socio-spatial inequalities persist that expose its inhabitants to high-risk conditions. Sectors such as El Sinai, located on the banks of the Medellín River, face the constant threat of flooding. Historical dynamics of segregation, construction in unstable areas, and a limited presence of the State, force its inhabitants to live in a state of alert and develop risk self-management strategies. The academy proposes to study community risk management to value collective intelligence, accelerate reaction times and strengthen a dignified life.
