Abstract

Observe time with this sundial! Print the clock, follow the instructions, and experiment with this device to measure the passage of time, just as our ancestors did when they looked at the sky to understand the passage of time. Discover what a "gnomon" is and how careful observation of astronomical cycles facilitated the advancement of knowledge. This educational sundial is designed to work correctly in Colombia (at a latitude approximately six degrees north of the equator) and tells the time based on the shadow cast by the "gnomon" at this latitude.
