Abstract
Let’s imagine for a moment that we could travel back to medieval France and observe the construction of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris. There, we wouldn’t just see stone, wood, scaffolding, tools, and workers at work. We would also see a particular way of organizing knowledge. Behind a project like that were figures capable of bringing together knowledge and decisions that we today tend to view as separate: the master builders.
