Abstract

On the beaches of Necoclí, which were once filled with tents, air mattresses, bags, and coats, the sea and the sand have once again taken center stage following the end of the wave of migration through the Darien Gap between Colombia and Panama. According to a United Nations report, in 2024 more than 300,000 people crossed the jungle with the goal of reaching the United States, primarily Venezuelans (68%), followed by Colombians (8%), Ecuadorians (8%), Chinese (5%), and Haitians (4%).
