Abstract

The waste produced in building construction  can be used as mortars, concrete and precast components. This paper presents the results of a research process that analyzed the behavior of mortars prepared with aggregated  from cylindrical concrete specimens. The cylinders were crushed  up to obtain thin particles. The recycled concrete was produced in the laboratory and then characterized through  the evaluation of its physical and mechanical properties in its fresh and hardened state. Mortars compositions  were cement, hydrated lime and sand in the 1:0,25:3; 1:0,5:4 and 1:1:5 ratios accordingly. The obtained results indicate that recycled concrete is a good option  in the building industry since it displayed an appropriate performance during the evaluation.
