Abstract
This article picks up Zoe Valdes’s idea of a primacy of the cultural influences of old Cuban aboriginals and forced African immigrations. The text focuses on the historical and cultural elaboration of indigenous and African ethnic groups, at the expense of Hispanic influence. Besides, it collects the question of Cuban identity according to Valdes’s vision, which excludes all things Spanish in her work. The author finds balance in her article by using different sociological and anthropological works from different tendencies.
