Abstract

The paper justifies considering poverty as a violation of human rights at an individual, but more concretely at a collective level. To achieve this, it discusses some proposals of contemporary political philosophy that have occupied themselves with this problem: the «funcionalist», the «extended liberty» and the «social autonomy» justifications. The latter, claims the author, comprehends better the requirements of a political justification, for it clarifies the role of bearers of duties and rights, and the expediency of claims and responsibilities in relation to poverty at an international level.
