Abstract

This article presents two literary contests that took place in Medellín in 2003. It analyses in detail the two winning novels and advances general commentaries on the rest of the 58 manuscrits presented to the juries. In this sense, the corpus is a good sample of the new tendencies of the Colombian literature. One of the winning novels deals with colombians forced to move to the United States around 1980, due to the traffic of narcotics and the violence related to it. The second is a Historical Novel related with the life in Medellín in the second parte of the XIX Century.
