Abstract

Nowadays a lack of uniformity regarding the use of the concept of privacy can be observed in different international instruments. This situation is related to the development of the right to protection of personal data because those rights –privacy and protection- sometimes seem to collide. Today there are several guidelines that seek to harmonize the right to privacy and the protection of personal data. The standards adopted by European Union are now serving as the basis for the regulation of this matter in a global context.
