Abstract

The analysis of the sector and the resources and capabilities, have been the two fields that are traditionally grouped strategy studies. This work, and theoretical work done in the context of an investigation, analyzed the strategy based on resources and capabilities of the company to find sources of potential benefits, competitive advantage and positively impact business performance. This paper, which is the focus in the analysis of process of identification and assessment of resources and capabilities, in order to establish and maintain competitive advantage, the criteria used to assess (Barney, 1991) and in the process to develop, which includes a integral financial planning.

I conclude that the concepts developed by the strategic theory as well as from other disciplines, are complementary in the search for the sources of business value, providing greater theoretical and methodological support for management, in the continuing task of assigning and developing resources and capabilities, as well as, opportunities for academic research.
