Abstract

In this paper, we consider the problem of alocating K active reserves, whose lifetimes are independent identically distributed random variables, equal to the system series components; with the purpose of optimizing system failure rate function. As opposed to the work by Sing and Singh, our discussion yields the same results using more elementary methods.
