Abstract
Using a lean principles and process management approach is possible to represent and analyze the production of indigo in a textile company. The method has the following steps: system mission definition, process mapping, description, documentation and
assessment. For process documentation production was divided in 80 work elements that were subsequently classified in value-adding and not value-adding. Among the results, a structure to easy the comprehension and client orientation of the processes is provided. Thanks to the Lean approach it was found that 87.5% of the studied operations were wastes, in particular: waiting,
transport and inventories. In addition, methodological elements and an standardization form were proposed for improving the approach and studying and generating productivity and quality improvement opportunities within companies.
