Abstract

The present work arises as an answer to the diversification of the sugar industry in Cuba. The study of needs and production possibilities of citric acid is taken as an alternative, specifically in the central region. Preceding works related to the thematic, whose methodologies and tools are available, were used. Different projects are studied for a citric acid plant of different annual production capacities. This is, 5.000, 7.500 and 10.000 t. The results are economically feasible with attractive VAN, TIR and PR results, except for the 5.000 t annual proposal in pessimistic conditions.
