Simulation of a distillation column that is reactive for the synthesis of n-Butylacetate

Abstract

In this work the simulation of the synthesis of the n-Butylacetate by Reactive Distillation (RD) was made using the Static Analysis (SA) with a nearly equimolar mixture of Butane to Acetic acid in the feeding streams. The simulated technological fl ow-sheets include distillation reactive column with one and two feeding streams and equilibrium reactor before the reactive column. The results of the simulation are compared against different works (Marulanda, 2002; Smejkal & Šoóš, 2002; Steinigeweg & Gmehling, 2002; Gangadwala, 2004), reaching a good agreement.
