Abstract

Metaphors help us think about translation. This profession –which benefits from working with digital tools– runs the risk of losing its training potential if it is equated with machine work. Literary translation resists automation because hasty equivalences make us lose sight of fundamental nuances of literary language. This text explores the richness of nuance in words to make visible the creative, immersive and ethical work involved in swimming between languages.
