Abstract
The wild type strain A. niger AL 01 was identified, using morphological methods. The production of citric acid was evaluated in different culture media: a standard media with sucrose and a starch media. By means of an experimental design (two factors at three levels each one) the production to different concentrations was evaluated, changing the quantities of starch and ammonium nitrate. The wild strain produced low quantities of citric acid (1,113 g/l in sucrose and 0,209 g/l in starch) compared with those reported in the literature.
