Abstract

The good physical state of the constituent elements of a road network, offers the user the comfort, safety and economy of transportation for which it was built. This evaluation is carried out by means of the determination of the Index of State. In this article, a review will made of the sliding resistance, evaluating qualitatively the properties of the rolling surface that conditions the driving of a vehicle . Some equipment that are used for such measure are mentioned, as well as the Index of international Friction (IIF), which is described as a reference scale, of international application, of the friction and of the texture of a pavement. Those analyses are considered as a great advance for the determination of the index of safely of the roads, and a substantial change in the practice of pavement conservation.
