Abstract

This article discusses the possibilities and limitations of the strategic management as a predominant tendency of the teaching and managerial practice in Latin American management schools. This theory is based on the hegemony and globalization of the type of business big
corporations and multinationals have established . The purpose is to elaborate a critic based on epistemology, taking elements from the social sciences and, particulary, from political theory. For that reason, the main aspects of the influence of strategic management are described,
specially the relation of the directive function in organizations with respect to  the appropiation that the public politics make of the managerial conceptualization
of political and social power.
