Abstract
This article analyzes the Egyptian Palace of Medellín, built between the 1920s and 1940s, as a case of local appropriation of Egyptomania. Through the study of its architectural and symbolic references, it examines the reinterpretation of ancient Egypt as an expression of the aspirations for modernity, cosmopolitanism, and social distinction among the urban elite within a context of the city’s transformation.
