The Operations Management and its central role within any organization•

Abstract

Operations Management is again playing a very important role inside different organizations. In the beginning and mid - 19th century, and even today in some organizations, Operations Management is still strongly taking place, based on the studies about methods and movements, with all its tactic tasks directed to controling the production plant floor, but not the production strategy. Since not more than ten years ago, Operations Management is totally controling and managing the production plant´s destinies, and those of logistics and process improvement.

This article shows in a simple way, how Operations Management interrelates with the other areas and structures in the organization, and how this relation allows the achievement of institutional goals in the long, half, and short run, where Operations Management is not only directed to control the production plant floor and its employees. Operations Management plays a new vital role in controling organizations´ destinies, as it manages production, logistics, and process improvement areas, which seek to satisfy the diverse corporate objectives.
