Abstract
Presenting a dynamic model that evaluates the importance of the inertial effects of soil-structure interaction (SSI) measured in terms of variation of the period and the shock absorption of the system for structures located in the different homogeneous zones of the city of Medellín. The results show that the SSI effects can be favorable or not depending on the parametrical combinations of each zone and the dynamic properties of the system that are modified by the presence of SSI effects. The evaluation of the possible benefits can be measured by the function of the variation of the spectral ordinates.
