Abstract

Violin students between 7 and 11 years old require reinforcement in their music reading skills. Even though they have good bases in music reading, children often get confused while reading and playing their instruments simultaneously because they initiate a different cognitive process. The guiding research question was: How can we improve children’s music reading skills through the understanding of images? The research was implemented in the school “Diego Echavarría” using visual teaching materials that were designed in order to create structure and solid bases for learning with the aim of allowing the students to improve their music reading skills with the violin. A mixed methods research design was used, collecting data using quantitative and qualitative tools.
The data analysis carried out through triangulation gives us (from each category) the results directly from the sources and we compare it against the theoretical framework.
