A critical vision of teaching and research in the so-called music theory

Abstract
We offer here a brief critical review of the current university academic world of Music Theory and Analysis with regard to its study, teaching, research, historical and other aspects related to the interdisciplinary cooperation with other sciences; specialized musical lexicon as well as other possible objects of study pertinent to the wide field of our discipline. The author has been a professor, researcher, orchestral and choral conductor, composer, and author of music theory and analysis. The original form of this article was an interview with the author by Professor Tomás Díaz Villegas, to be published in the Colombian journal “A contratiempo”.
