Abstract
This chronicle presents a brief recount of some of the experiences that the author had between 1999 and 2013. In it, the Music Department’s first years are narrated from the perspective of a student, teacher, researcher, and member of the EAFIT Symphony Orchestra, while recalling some of the people and processes that contributed to the creation and transformation of said Department.

Doctor of Musicology with a major in Cultural Studies and Latin American Studies from the University of Pittsburgh. He is also a Musician with an emphasis on Violin (2005) and a Master in Music with an emphasis on Historical Musicology from EAFIT University (2011). His texts have been published in Arts Magazine: Magazine of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Antioquia, the Casa de las Américas Music Bulletin, the Pontificia Editorial Universidad Javeriana and Latin American Music Review.
