Abstract
Abstract. The scope of our research project summarized in this article is Music Form and Analysis Methodology and focused (2009) on the section which can be labeled as Micro morphology or Microform, dedicated to small formal parts spanning from the single sound to the section. Our review of the subject referred then to the objective or immanent level of analysis on the music written text. The reasons for this review were: a) The definitions and their applications to musical texts, of concepts like motive, figure, gesture, incise, sub phrase, podos or foot, semi phrase, period, sentence, phrase groups, and others, often show confusion, divergence and even contradictions; b) Complexity is, of course, necessary to explain complex entities, but concise methods based on separating criteria like thematic function from length or duration, harmony and association ways, could prevent an unnecessary degree of complexity.
